Local businesses in Stevenage can apply for the Herts Responsible Food Award now. The award has been developed by Hertfordshire County Council’s Public Health team in collaboration with Hertfordshire food business owners.

The Herts Responsible Food Award certifies that businesses have made efforts to improve the health impact of their food offering and to run their business sustainably. The award is free for businesses to join and aims to benefit local communities through:

  • Improving local dietary health
  • Reducing negative environmental impacts of local businesses
  • Boosting the local economy


Participating businesses will be supported to meet the requirements of the award in several ways including:

  • Provision of up to 3 fully funded level 2 food hygiene courses for staff
  • Access to exclusive discounts from local food suppliers including JJ Food Service
  • Access to a FREE business support package coordinated by the Hertfordshire Growth Hub
  • Advertising and promotion from your local council
  • Opportunities to network with other businesses
