Businesses in Great Britain can claim the Youth Jobs Grant, offering a £3,000 incentive, to encourage the recruitment of young people who may otherwise find it difficult to enter the labour market. Grant will be staged across four months and support the hiring of long-term unemployed youth.
First Payment: £1,800 paid at 6 weeks of employment.
Second Payment: £1,200 paid at 18 weeks of employment.
Eligibility Rules
The scheme will support young people aged 18 to 24 years old who have been out of work and on Universal Credit for at least 6 months. A minimum of 25 contracted hours per week, supported by the National Minimum Wage, lasting a minimum of 4 months will be required.
To take part in the Youth Jobs Grant, employers must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- operating in Great Britain
- registered with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)
- actively trading, with a minimum trading history of six months
- meet due diligence checks
The Youth Jobs Grant will operate for three years until it closes to new participants in October 2028 and will be open to employers of all sizes and sectors and eligible claimants.
